What I read in January – Book Reviews

January was a good month for my reading list. I read 2 non-fiction and 3 fiction novels. Here is a quick review of each book, spoiler I liked them all.

The 7 Habits of highly Effective People – This was a great book to start the year off with. It was organized well, with very good and relevant advice, about improving yourself and how you interact with others. I wrote a lengthy book review/summary of this novel, because I was so inspired and wanted to share the advice within.

Where’d You Go, Bernadette – This was a funny and light read about a misunderstood women, and her relationship with her daughter. Its been on my list for a while, and I was glad I finally got around to reading it. It reminded me of Big, Little Lies, but a little less serious. It’s the mean mom bullies that made the connection for me.

The Family Upstairs

The Family Upstairs – This book was mysterious and thrilling. I liked the character Libby and her quest to solve the mystery of her birth parents death. Read my full book review for more details.

City of Girls – I like epic stories that follow a character’s life from beginning to end. In this novel we see the evolution of a young girl who makes a big mistake, that changes her view of everything. It also shows the power of words, and how one comment can change so much.

The Awakened Family

The Awakened Family – I really enjoyed the advice given in this parenting book, and how it encourages the parents to take responsibility for their children’s behavior. It was a new spin on advice I’ve read in other books, that really highlighted changes in modern parenting. I summarized my favourite pieces of advice in this post.

Have you read any of these books yet? Which one was your favourite?
