The book Mindful Discipline wasn’t quite what I expected. I thought it would be about advice and tips for disciplining your children. Instead, this parenting book focused a lot on educating parents what discipline and mindfulness are.

The first half of the book was very educational. Instead of how to discipline children, this book focused on how parents should act when disciplining, and making sure you as the parent, are disciplining from a mindful place.

Mindful discipline is an integrative approach, that embraces discipline as one dimension of a healthy, wise, and loving relationship.

The book featured many guided meditations you can preform as a parent to make sure you are aware and in the present moment with your children.

These are the six areas the book suggested parents focus on to help develop a self disciplined and emotional mature adult. Each chapter discusses how each of these nourish and help grow the brain.

  • Unconditional Love
  • Space
  • Mentorship
  • Healthy Boundaries
  • Mis-takes

If you are looking for advice on how to get your kids to listen, or what to do when they don’t, this book might not work.

If you are interested using mindfulness while parenting, this book will provide a lot of advice that will help you stop and think before you react.

There is also a lot of good information and reasoning, why children require the five areas of nourishment listed above, and how to provide them.
